BASKETBALL SKILL LEVEL:
Novice
- Experience: Just starting or limited exposure to the game.
- Skills:
- Basic dribbling (often looking down).
- Inconsistent shooting form and accuracy.
- Limited understanding of offensive/defensive positioning.
- Struggles with game rules and timing.
- Play Style: Often focused on individual play; not yet comfortable in game situations.
Intermediate
- Experience: Regularly plays basketball, understands rules.
- Skills:
- Can dribble with both hands under pressure.
- Decent shooting mechanics and mid-range accuracy.
- Can execute basic offensive and defensive plays.
- Solid understanding of team roles and positioning.
- Play Style: Comfortable in pick-up games; shows improving game sense and decision-making.
High Intermediate
- Experience: Significant playing time, possibly at school or club level.
- Skills:
- Confident ball-handling in motion and under pressure.
- Reliable shooting (mid-range, some three-point range).
- Strong defensive positioning and rebounding.
- Can run plays, set screens, and read defenses.
- Play Style: Plays effectively in competitive games; makes smart decisions on court.
VOLLEYBALL SKILL LEVEL:
Novice (Beginner / Recreational)
- Experience: New to the game or very limited playing time.
- Skills:
- Basic understanding of rules and scoring.
- Inconsistent passing, serving, and setting.
- Difficulty with positioning and court movement.
- Gameplay:
- Focused on learning fundamentals.
- Slower pace, frequent errors.
- May play under relaxed rules (e.g., lenient lifts, underhand serves).
Intermediate
- Experience: Regular recreational play or some competitive experience.
- Skills:
- Consistent underhand and overhand serving.
- More accurate passing and setting.
- Can bump, set, and spike with moderate control.
- Beginning to understand rotations and team strategies.
- Gameplay:
- Faster pace with some rallies.
- Can play structured positions.
- Still working on consistency and advanced techniques.
High Intermediate (Advanced Recreational / Competitive)
- Experience: Significant playtime, possibly in leagues or high school/club teams.
- Skills:
- Strong and consistent serves, including jump or float serves.
- Reliable passing, setting, and hitting with tactical placement.
- Understands offensive and defensive formations.
- Can block, dig, and transition effectively.
- Gameplay:
- Fast-paced with coordinated team play.
- Fewer unforced errors.
- Plays full rotations with positional awareness.
BOWLING SKILL LEVEL:
- Novice
New to the game or bowls occasionally. Still learning proper form, grip, and aiming. Scores are typically below 100. Focus is on consistency and understanding the rules. - Intermediate
Has some experience and can bowl with reasonable accuracy. Knows how to aim for spares and sometimes uses basic hook techniques. Scores generally range from 100 to 150. - High Intermediate
Bowls regularly and has developed solid technique, including controlled hook shots. Consistently aims for spares and strikes. Scores often fall between 150 and 180. May understand lane conditions and adjust accordingly.
PICKLEBALL SKILL LEVEL:
- Novice (Beginner: 2.0–2.5 rating)
- Just learned the rules and how to keep score
- Inconsistent serve and return
- Struggles with control and placement
- Limited or no strategy—focus is on getting the ball over the net
- Uncomfortable at the non-volley zone (kitchen)
- Intermediate (Lower Intermediate: 3.0–3.5 rating)
- Consistent serve and return
- Can sustain short rallies
- Developing control and shot selection (dinks, volleys, lobs)
- Some understanding of positioning and basic strategy
- Begins to approach the net with confidence
- Can play both forehand and backhand, though still developing reliability
- High Intermediate (Upper Intermediate: 3.5–4.0 rating)
- Consistent with both forehand and backhand shots
- Understands and uses third shot drops and drives strategically
- Can maintain longer rallies with moderate pace and placement
- Positions well, anticipates opponents’ shots
- More aggressive net play, uses dinks effectively
- Working on reducing unforced errors and improving transitions
